Period Sim for hidden treasures

I'm not quite sure how long it's been open , but the sim called Period, still has some opening offerings to round out the year. I caught it will poking about at Discord's Nightmare City (cause those damn lucky chai's are addictive!) and popped over before work fast finds this morning. Needless to say, I needed more time, but here's some quick finds. (I seriously want to return to MeteoRain -- not for free but nice stuff at scary good prices.)

The two fast finds were this really nice black unisex turtleneck with texture / color change scarf; (the beige one beside it at Image was only $100L) from Image Direct and two sets of pants from the Aurora Shop; one in black leather and one in b/w tie die that I really like the look of. I think the pants need a belt..but I have a ton in my inventory... so that's not really a negative. The sim itself is both dark and fun, with plenty of other shops to explore, and random boxes with "?" on them that are also often gifts.

==========
What else I'm wearing:

Skin: Den Dou Ichiro (not free)
Hair: Caught in espresso by Shag (from the DTCH)
Boots: Coco Update group gift

Sharp Shades

All mods need a cool pair of shades, its as essential as clean underwear! And recently I was generously given a pair by Ameshin Yossarian of Curious Kittens that completely blew me away.

The level of detail put into these FREE shades is exceptional, the beautifully transparent lenses, and sharp design of the frame arms make them look like shades you shelved out a few hundred lindens for; but no, they were a freebie gift...fantastic!

While your in the store, check out some other items maybe purchase one or two, free stuff this cool deserves a bit of of linden lurve!!!

Logo this

I'm not always keen on logoed apparel -- in 1st or 2nd life -- because it doesn't take much to stick a logo on a t-shirt or stamp it on the pocket of a pair of jeans. Then again, some logos become fashion statements in and of themselves -- like the long line of changing Panama Jack graphics that were popular a few years ago, and let us not forget Rebok, or Addidas, or Nike.

[Beck & Carter] haven't quite reached that level of notoriety in Second Life yet, but they've certainly got the start of it; their graphics are cool and attractive just as graphics and in their current crop of freebies (5 gifts in all and some extras) they've incorporated an already cool logo into some fun stuff. And the non-logoed stuff -- in this case a vibrant colorful shirt and short set -- are also kind of a signature of the designers in their own way. Hot trendy colors, vibrant designs, and a rich look that you could find on the Cote de Azure or Riviera. For those of you willing to part with a few lindens, their prices are pretty reasonable, in the $100-$250 rang for shirt and jean separates and up from there for complete outfits. If you are looking for head turning swimwear, this might be the place to look.

That said, they don't hide the fact that some of their looks are kind of courting the gay market, (they have a line of t-shirts and jeans celebrating the noted gay cartoonist Tom of Finland - not free) but from jeans to shirts, you also get that they understand how clothes fit and look on a male avatar.

Also, if you're looking for a few home accents, you might try clicking on the floral arrangements and maybe the floor... there's more free in the shop than the obvious stuff, so poke around. If you get all five gift releases, you'll also find three very cool document cases in red, leopard and black.

The logo for [Jetcity] has only recently started making an appearance - small and kind of whimsical -- you can see it in the newly redesigned shop and on the clothes that Jiru sets out. Nearly everything in the shop is free or only a few lindens -- well worth checking and rechecking. The new offering is a pair of front placard short pants (in 4 colors) with leggings ( in 6 colors). The placard is reminiscent of WWII uniforms and the addition of the leggings just reinforce that look. It happens to be a design detail I like, and with the right pair of boots this is a pretty distinctive look -- logo or not.

The last couple of items on my list aren't representative of logos, just a couple things that came down the pike while I was hunting for them: First up the lucky chair win at [Analise] that Eliza announced in the group. Called Sandman, it's a black on grey set of pants and top, wrapped sscarf and simple belt. I'm wearing the top here with an offering from Raven at [Rfyre]; laced black leather pants in both regular and boot cut styles, that she put out as a freebie to correct an issue with the pants that accompany the Bytterwynds line of awesome kilts.

And from [Maschienenwerk], my perennial go to place for casual clothes, is this camo tank paired with another of the offerings from[Beck & Carter]. It's not new -- I've had it for awhile, but pulling it out for this reminded me that it was probably about time to go check and see if anything new was up and lo and behold, there are chucks and sneaks. I don't have them pictured -- but if you ever wanted a pair of Converse All Stars, high tops or low rise, in pretty much any color you can think of... Armin has you covered. (Third floor. Can't miss them.)

Oh, and in case you missed it -- for a name in 2L that doesn't actually seem to need a logo, my hair is from MADesigns, the fat pack offering this month prompted by the popularity of the the same style offered in the JFTG hunt ~ Slide in NB III.

Edited to add: The creative brains behind [Beck & Carter], Joyd Beck and Croce Carter, noted that joining their group gets members a free gift every month, so if you've got the slot, I'd go for it.

Time for Kicking Back...

After so many hunts and more starting in a couple of days, taking a break means easy to wear and easy to find. Photos Nikolaidis at [A:S:S] and Guen DeCuir's offering through DSN made that as easy as even I could want.

The A:S:S mainstore has moved - the space is bigger, easier to move in and leaves Photos a lot of room to expand -- all good things -- but I admit I miss the charm of his little shop in Fordham. Nonetheless, it's a well deserved move and to celebrate it, he's put up a little mini hunt -- three silvery stars are hidden in new shop, just waiting for you to find them.

(thigh poinard is part of the Van Helising set from Avid)

The prizes are two shirts and a pair of low rise jeans: Grey stripes on the left (the red jeans are another gift from the [Energy] offerings in the GLBT Hunt), the yellow top and jeans on the right. The new [A:S:S mainstore is on the Space Illusion 2] sim. No secret that I really like Photos's work -- and although these are free, his regular prices are good too, and he's got a really creative mind when it comes to what guys will and won't wear that I appreciate a lot.

Another unlooked for gift came through the [Designer Showcase Network or DSN]. Guenevere DeCuir is a kick-ass DJ who regularly rocks the socks off people at Sanctuary Rock, Freakheim Funeral Home and at the club I work, Lounge of Dreams. (Her Saturday Night mash-up sets are well worth your time). Aside from being a great DJ, she's also a talented artist. She does some amazing tattoo and jewelry work for her shop [.:CoLLisions:.], and recently sent out samples through the DSN network along with a really nice bead bracelet called "Nurturing Power" in red.

Left: Lotus, Right: Double Dragon. Both come in undershirt, shirt and jacket layers and are unisex.

The bracelet is basic and simple and a nice rich red without any need to glow; also unisex. I'm wearing it here with another gift from [Energy] and the GLBT Hunt -- black rainbow striped sweatpants (also in white, same pack.)

Where Were You...

In the Summer of '88?

I was wild enough to shoot at that year.

Sometimes we look back and wonder how the hell we survived our own stupidity. Mostly I just smile a lot. It makes people wonder what I'm thinking, but I'll never tell : )

Every time I go to Cheap Love Song it brings on that flood of memories for me. And I smile.

Spudgy and Emilee are having a little celebration this weekend with a huuuge sale and a great live performer, and YOU need to be there.

Starting at 3pm SLT on Friday (that's tomorow btw), everything in the Cheap Love Song main shop will be marked down to 20L. Everything will be 20L!!!

One more time, cuz I like it...EVERYTHING WILL BE 20L!!!

Honestly, you can't afford to miss this sale.

Mandoaa Dragonash will be performing from 5 to 6pm, and from what I hear, he is NOT to be missed. Here's a couple of quotes from his bio...

"Imagine lining up the some of the best musicians from the past 20 years and then going down the line and kicking each one in the nuts (or in the case of Miley Cyrus...um...the mullet)."

I think they meant Billy Ray. He could certainly use it LOL!

"So, from Elvis to Outkast, Seether to Alison Kraus, Mando will deliver a musical experience that packs sims with people having a good time."

Emilee said she's going to request "Boy Named Sue" by Johnny Chash. That's enough to get me there by itself. Aaaand I think he may be there on Saturday too. Gotta check on that though, so don't take it as gospel.

If all this isn't enough for you, the tee shirt and jeans at the top of this page are the male gift for the SL Discovery hunt that starts tonight. You'll be looking for a magnifying glass, and I bet it's not hidden too well so that you can stick around and enjoy the sale and the show.

One for the girls. No, the women, not the "girls". Get your eyes off my bewbs!

Not quite the Easter Bunny

::Waves:: Hi. Stepping up to give Eliza an assist. We'll work through the intros and about me's later -- you guys are here for the goodies, I know.

Wasn't sure I could get you all here for an Easter egg hunt, so, I thought I'd do the hunt for you and bring you the finds. I'm gonna start by pointing you all to Londoom, in Goldbach. It's a fun build with some great shops and not a few freebies. You could say the anchor store is Damon Dollinger's Fear&Clothing, which is a store I love a lot for style as much as detail. He does great work (and his prices are extremely reasonable for what you get). He's got dollarbie shirts and a really worthwhile hoodie out for you to grab.(Extra bonus: the t-shirts come in both capped and short sleeves and multiple layers to wear any way you like.) He's also still got a pair of low rise tartan pants out from the Most Random Hunt Ever -- look for the big flower just inside the door .

The hoodie is $10L, but it's nice and the most I spent this morning. The black jeans I'm wearing with the F&C shirts are from *JetCity*, $0L, on the inside wall.

Keeping in Londoom, I went for a walk and found a mix of shirts and jeans, all casual and fun. Batshit, .:Addict:. and Sn@tch all have outlets there.
(and seriously, how can you not love a store called Batshit?) The shirts are fun and the jeans, while they come in a big box of Sn@tch freebies for women, are nicely detailed. .:Addict:. also had this hair "Caleb Hair-Chestnutmeg" which comes with the knitted cap.

Also, in Londoom, Lusty had some freebie poses for guys, in a red box just inside the door -- those are always worth grabbing and are the ones I used in the first pics.

If you planned right, you set yourself up to get some nice eggs dropped on you overnight from the Midnight Mania offerings of various creators. I woke up this morning to gifts from Trixxy's Shop and Freed.0m.

the T-shirt is part of the Michael Outfit from the Lucky Chair at Freedo.0m, the Dirty Bloody Jeans and Kilt are from Trixxy's MM board -- the Jeans and Kilt are back on the board today so go get on the countdown. Freedo.0m also has a bunch of free tanks at the desk.

The scarf I'm wearing in a lot of these shots is a freebie in the Designer's Hunt that's still running: this is from Slave of the Dream at CandyMetal. (look for the big box just inside the door to your left)

The other half of the Michael Outfit was a pair of half leg jeans, complete with iPod Nano. Now wouldn't I like one of those in my Easter basket?

(Hair in this is Bryce:Criminal, free at Savoir Hair).

Hope you find something worth grabbing -- even for the Midnight Mania boards that are passed, those shops are worth keeping your eye on.

That's it for me today -- I get to go watch a 4 year old hunt for eggs...and that's the best freebie ever. Happy hunting and have a blessed day if you celebrate Easter!

Hopeful Wanderer

I've not been in SL much lately, so I decided to go for a wander today to see what I've been missing, and I found some great stuffs for you. Ok, some of it isn't new, but maybe it's new to you.

The hat with hair is a Bunny Hop gift from Izumyia. Don't forget to check out the freebie area upstairs while you're there. The glasses are from Solar Eyewear and come with a HUD to give you 435,927 options, and you'll find them along with this shirt from Mechanism at Fabulous Fashion TV Show.

The skin and eyes are from Imagen and can be found at the Free*Style Juicy location. When you get there, be sure to touch the sign on the left to get a notecard with all of the Free*Style locations so you can find the Body Builder AO. I'm not telling which location it's in, but you'll have fun going through all of the great stuff they have, I promise. Just be sure to look in all of their buildings and all around and behind the boxes and posters.

I saw the following avatar from Curious Inc. on Anna Zwier's blog and I just had to try to win it. By the way, you guys should check that blog out, because she'll tell you about male freebies when she runs across them.

This is Uchi Cat - Felis and I'm showing the female version here. It comes with both male and female though, so no worries. What you do need to worry about is the swirling vortex of doom that sucks you down into a big hole in the ground and ejects you from the sim. No, I'm not joking at all. You'll be hunting for a box that appears randomly all over the place, and you have to be close to it to touch it and win. Good luck!
Aaaaand, if you're not sick of me blogging about Tigerclaw yet (this is the 3rd or 4th time), you should go check out what's new.

I counted no less than 34 freebie boxes, 8 camp chairs, and a Bunny Hop gift. I'm only showing the monster costume here, but there are jackets, belts, toys, houses, gadgets, boots, and more.
grrrr

HALP! MAH HEAD'S STUCK!!!

This monster has big glowy eyes, and the pictures here just don't do the textures justice at all.

Later taters! Y'all have fun!

RL, SL, & RFL

I've been playing way too much RL lately, but I should be able to be in-world long enough today to get a real post or two done.

/me crosses her fingers

I totally forgot about this great Bare Rose outfit that I wanted to give away, and that's partially because NOBODY tried to claim it. You're all either very modest about how much you donated to RFL, or you just hate this set. *laughs*

I don't know what to do with this thing now.
I'm open to suggestions!

Later taters!

Gifts For Your Sweetheart

Head over to MZ Shop, and there you'll find 4 groupings of 4 sets of transferable lingerie to vote for your favorite. You only get 2 votes, so choose carefully. After you vote, you receive the sets you've chosen.

These are all sculpty and prim sets, and they all come with matching shoes. They're all gorgeous, so you'll have a hard time deciding. Try to have fun, even though I know it's a chore to look at all this sexy stuff.
