50 Linden Fridays! Are You In?

So unless you've been under a rock you all may have noticed this little weekly thing going around the grid called "50 Linden Fridays".

Wait, what you do mean that it's only meant for girls? Nuh uh! Yeah I know not all of of the places who participate each week have male stuff available, but enough of them do that it's worth checking out!

And yes I know that $50L isn't exactly "Free" but it's pretty darn close in order to get some cool stuff, learn about new shops, and even possibly zoom around and find the free stuff they may have available in other parts of the store!

This week is a special week too since due to the holidays the stores participating are offering these goodies ALL WEEKEND. So yes I had good reason to blog these for you. ;-)

Two specific male items this weekend are...

50 Linden Friday Goodies #4 & #5

Five Male Poses available from Long Awkward Pose which are always good to have for Photo Ops. :-)

The outfit in this pic is from *Fishy Strawberry*. The Equinox Jeans are Unisex while the Heartbeat Tee is specifically meant for the dudes. Definitely worth picking up!

Now what if you just want a bag to carry around?

50 Linden Friday Goodies #3

This Unisex Fabric Bag from (Milk Motion) has 3 different bags in the pack (each with its own holding pose) aaaaaaand the 3 buttons on the side change with a click between 5 different button styles (or no buttons if you prefer). Perfect for when you want to wander about town shopping or just moseying and lookin' cool.

Have a BFF and wanna show off just how awesome they are? Come on we know you all do even if you don't use the term "BFF". ;-)

50 Linden Friday Goodies #2

This is a Fawn made these awesome BFF Shirts in a special Emerald color for 50 Linden Friday. One shirt is even placed in a special transferable gift box so that your BFF will feel extra special when you slip it over to their inventory.

Christmas decorum no included, however. ;-)

And what about if you want a cheeky (yes I said "cheeky") way to show off your love for someone who is a bit more than just your BFF?

50 Linden Friday Goodies #1

::Urbanity:: (who's in the midst of a Sim Makeover but still open for you to get these) has a ultra cute solution for that. I know most of still use <3 in chat to show love love love, and so Trixi decided to make that into a pair of adorable necklaces entitled One Heart One Love for you and your special someone to wear. You can't see in the pic but the tiny links in-between are also little hearts which add that extra bit of charm. :-)

So get your bum over and get some goodies for $50L each before they're all gone Sunday Night!

PS: Mucho Kudos to UCBlack Legion for posing in the pics with moi. Hopefully he won't figure out that the chocolate I bribed him with was Baker's Chocolate. :-P

Bargains, Basics and Better Homes & Gardens

The hunting season isn't nearly over and if you weren't aware, the wildly popular "Make Him Over Hunt" is gearing up again to start on the 15th. A lot of the current hunts for October are a mixed bag for us guys, and with so many of them, it's hard to know where and if you should devote any time to them, but I've got a couple of things here that I've tripped over that you might want to take a look at and make a grab for before they are gone.

Sable Rose - Basics Emerald Stud Earring (front and back)

The first up "Ear Basics," an offer from Sable Rose that is meant for guys but is unisex. You might have to dig some change out of your virtual couch for it, but it's worth it. For $50L you get a mega pack of basic earring sets. Yes, earrings..., studs, hoops, and piercings that go with pretty much anything and everything you need that aren't modified women's earrings and aren't so big and blingy you blind everyone in a 50 metre radius. I'm not show you all of them, but there are 34 sets in this pack, gemstones and industrial, along with a sizing and placement card and pieces that when you rezz them, even if they are small, won't typically end up inside your head, because these were fitted to a male avatar. And while you are there, you might hang out a bit at the lucky boards in the back. Rosie has put in her her very cool Coexist set (from the jewelry faire post) along with a version of her Zoe gothic cross...and that makes the whole visit a bargain.

Right: Basics Diamond Stud Earring

Decked out? Good... let me show you another kind of deck, this one for free. JJ Lane furniture participates in a lot of hunts, and the quality of their stuff is top notch and relatively low prim. they also have a Prize for Picks aspect to their subscribo and even if the airier styles they carry (they do mostly beach style furnishings) they are worth keeping on your radar. Currently they are in the Pumpkin Prints Hunts (look for the pumpkin with the paw print) and the Halloween Hunt reboot (look for the black bat) and if you want something for your deck or outside patio...you can't miss with these:

JJ Lanes Adirondack deck set - #14 on the Pumpkin Prints Hunt: This is an amazing amount of furniture as a gift. It has one double set of adirondack chairs with a shared table (3 prims), a single chair with a blanket and pillow set attached (3 prims) , another single chair, (1 prim) a side table (1 prim) and a greenhouse flower arrangement (which pops at 17 prims)
Copy/No Mod/No Trans
This has a great menu driven set of sits and poses; the single chair with the pillow allows seating for two, possibly more; pose choices forboth men or women. It says teal, but it has that nice weathered look that works on any porch you may have or just on the edge of a beach or dock.

GreenHouse Dining Table (3 prims) & 2 Bar stools (4 prims each), with Rug and Cape Bureau (7 prims) It's #46 on the Halloween Hunt - Copy/No Mod/No Trans.
Again, the sits are awesome, the look is yeah, light and breezy, but if it's getting colder where you are and you want a reminder of summer, you won't go wrong with this set.

And while you are redecorating, let me point you the newly introduced Pocket Gardens by Carter Denja & Stormy Aluveaux. Carter contacted me a week or so ago because I'm kind of a landscaping nut, and I went to look -- and I was really impressed with what they've done. The gardens are exactly as advertised: of varying sizes and prim counts so you can fit them to your tiny urban rooftop, or integrate them into an existing landscaping plan. They come with pose sets an optional base and a texture and/or theme menu for the ground and color type. Larger ones come with a optional hedge prims for privacy and water features depending on the size. I bought one at 44 prims immediately... but they were for purchase, so not really something I could post here. Except Carter is kind of awesome and she's put a small version (11 prims) into her subscribo. Join the group, get a garden...but do take the time to look around the grounds and take your next date there *grins*. (Two shops, Downstairs at Madhu's World Cafe - very cool place, and her conservatory at New Toulouse Algiers.)

And last, let me point you in the direction of SF Design and the fact that swaffette has not only been offering men free stuff since I first rezzed, she is currently offering up a new pack of something every month at her Penryn shop. This month, she gets back to the basics, with a fat pack of men's low rise trunks black, blue, burgundy, grey and purple. Swaffette has you covered from the casual to the most formal, and she's a staple for men's wardrobes in SL even beyond these basic briefs. You don't have to join a group or subscribo to get her monthly freebies... but SF Design is another place I check pretty regularly to see what she's got out that's new.

Jewelry Faire and why you should go

Jewelry Faire: It's not just for the ladies. Even among the gifts and freebies, guys are pretty well represented which is actually very cool.

And not just by the platinum and bling of the punk, gangster, pimp, and rapper wear, either. (not that there's anything wrong with that look... but come on, guys, push the envelope a little. ~grins~).

If you didn't know, Jewelry Faire is like most faires that showcase designers and has a charity aspect to it too.

This year's beneficiary is OxFam, with 50% of the purchase price of selected designs going to the charity. I'll get to my choice at the end of this (which I've hinted at in a prior post.)

But for now, know that the faire is spread over two sims, and each sim is broken into Seasons: Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter.

I tell you this because the TP points are set to landing points, so you kind of need to know the general area to find what I'm going to show you -- then again, it's two sims, broken into seasonal themed hedges that guide the path.

It doesn't actually take a long time to explore the entire faire. (I suggest getting to the top of the hedges and walk along that. )

A good many designers were offering men's jewelry, but I'm only tackling those that had gifts out that worked for men. The list of urls follows, but again, that's more of a guide than an easy TP. Sorry.

And I'm sure there was stuff I missed. I went early but like most faires, the lag can get pretty bad once people start showing up in large numbers. So, in order of the pictures, left to right:

Evica: Key On A String, JewelryFair 1 (28, 126, 28) Spring 1

G Field: Brass Key necklace, JewelryFair 2 (128, 54, 28) Fall 2

Ear Candy:Black Leather Wrist Band, JewelryFair 1(64, 16, 28) Spring 1
Ear Candy: Black Fleur de Lis necklace & Double Hoop earrings (both ears, there's alos a silver version of this necklace, JewelryFair 1 (64, 16, 28) Spring 1

Sable Rose: Corkscrew choker (nice industrial look) , JewelryFair 1 (65, 165, 28) Summer 1

coLLisions: Legion Necklace, JewelryFair 2 (219, 215, 28) Winter 2,

EyeCandy: I've Got Bunny Fever! (the eyes on this blink. It's hysterical) JewelryFair 1 (240, 16, 28) Spring 2

Earthsong Creations: Gold Whale Tail Necklace ,JewelryFair 2 (235, 140, 28) Summer 2
Earthsong Creations: Rainbow Mystic Topaz Pendant, JewelryFair 2 (235, 140, 28) Summer 2

*Ticky Tacky*: Daily Bangles, JewelryFair 2 (237, 169, 28) Summer 2

Smooth Designs: Men's Onyx Set JewelryFair 1 (40, 225, 28) Summer 1

If I'm gonna spend money at Jewelry Faire (and I am) one of my choice is the Coexist set from Sable Rose. The set comes with the three pieces you see here, plus two plain wraps. There's a women's version as well. the Set is $400L -- with 50% of it going to Oxfam through the 27th, or roughly $80L per piece and while that's not free, that's not a bad deal.

Rosie Barthelmess is a friend, no denying, but for me this jewelry set (as most of the offerings for the faire do -- the designers put a lot of thought into what they put up for charity) does everything a good wear should: It looks good, it's a reasonable price, it benefits someone else, and it says something about who I am.

What's your jewelry saying about you?

Hey! I'm Still Here!

Random things going through my head right now:
  • The first anniversary of this blog was on June 14th.  I totally forgot, so I suck for that.
  • My first blog post was on July 4th.  yaaaay whooop whooop *waves her index fingers in the air*
  • Why the hell is the background on that picture pink?
  • Blogger has changed a little.  I'm now confused.
I made a necklace!  I don't care to think about how long it took me to make something so simple, but there it is.  It's free.  It's at the new Free Finds For Men shop in Gloomyville.  Go get it now.

Time for Kicking Back...

After so many hunts and more starting in a couple of days, taking a break means easy to wear and easy to find. Photos Nikolaidis at [A:S:S] and Guen DeCuir's offering through DSN made that as easy as even I could want.

The A:S:S mainstore has moved - the space is bigger, easier to move in and leaves Photos a lot of room to expand -- all good things -- but I admit I miss the charm of his little shop in Fordham. Nonetheless, it's a well deserved move and to celebrate it, he's put up a little mini hunt -- three silvery stars are hidden in new shop, just waiting for you to find them.

(thigh poinard is part of the Van Helising set from Avid)

The prizes are two shirts and a pair of low rise jeans: Grey stripes on the left (the red jeans are another gift from the [Energy] offerings in the GLBT Hunt), the yellow top and jeans on the right. The new [A:S:S mainstore is on the Space Illusion 2] sim. No secret that I really like Photos's work -- and although these are free, his regular prices are good too, and he's got a really creative mind when it comes to what guys will and won't wear that I appreciate a lot.

Another unlooked for gift came through the [Designer Showcase Network or DSN]. Guenevere DeCuir is a kick-ass DJ who regularly rocks the socks off people at Sanctuary Rock, Freakheim Funeral Home and at the club I work, Lounge of Dreams. (Her Saturday Night mash-up sets are well worth your time). Aside from being a great DJ, she's also a talented artist. She does some amazing tattoo and jewelry work for her shop [.:CoLLisions:.], and recently sent out samples through the DSN network along with a really nice bead bracelet called "Nurturing Power" in red.

Left: Lotus, Right: Double Dragon. Both come in undershirt, shirt and jacket layers and are unisex.

The bracelet is basic and simple and a nice rich red without any need to glow; also unisex. I'm wearing it here with another gift from [Energy] and the GLBT Hunt -- black rainbow striped sweatpants (also in white, same pack.)
