Jackrabbiting for bargains

Post-hunt one of the things I like to do is visit the stores of things I liked, or in this case the sims to see what else might be around. It's kind of a haphazard approach to looking for stuff but every now and again, you get lucky. What I' found this morning is a mix between new stuff, free, dollarbies, or minimal costs (like under $25L)

Before I even started today, DSN had dropped a gift from Dark Closet: a Shades kilt in distressed silver-grey leater, complete with chain mail pants and a top. I mixed it up with previous hunt gifts, including the Shaggy hair from Bryce and the boots in the last gift from Sensual Mistery from MHOH2, Krazy Kanji Tat from HUZ from the JFTG hunt and the Pup collar from Urban Assault from the Steampunk Hunt.

I started at KOSH, which is a good bet any day of the week and they added a bunch of new stuff to their perpetual dollarbie piles, along with the weekly offerings: this time the lockless bracelet (charms style with skelton keys) and a triple wrap checker belt. Necklace is Coexist from Sable Rose in the Lucky Board.

Philotic Energy (PE) is another good bet where I picked up this Boyd Hair with knit cap fatpack on the discount display. Right across the way from PE is Moonshine with this gift of a hoodie and jeans for men in the middle of the display. (Other hoodies in the discount area for $10L)

Harajukubox was my next stop for these dollarbie Dirt Clod Boots at Slanted Fox -- they've been running a Going out of Business sale for a bit, so don't miss it, or the other dollarbies in the store.

Hunt Hodge-Podge

The ending of the month is coming up, and hunts are still in progress that include some awesome prizes for men.

Also, there is a huge sale at !Cybernetic for male skins. Each facial hair option is 1L, and there is a selection of ten skin tones. If my calculations are correct, you could leave there with all of the variations for around 100L. The catch (there is always one) is that there is no ending date announced. So, act fast to get awesome deals.

Things not to skip in the Skipping Stones Hunt

EDIT: Hunt Ends on the 25th. Go Now.

The Skipping Stones hunt runs through the end of the month and while there's not a lot of clothes for men, there are some very, very cool prizes worth grabbing.

Mostly summer themed, there are clever and creative offerings including this dock from [chanimations #16] that comes not only with the dock and sitting animations but incorporates a very fun "stone in mid skip" set of posed sets for great pics, including water ripples and a stone for your hand. The poses are more or less feminine but there's enough unisex ones to make it worth grabbing, plus it's a nice, light addition to any water feature you might have access to.

Another really nice set is this full conversation porch from #07. [Second Spaces]. It's a complete set with sits and a nice relaxed feel to the whole thing. Do rezz it in build mode and take it up the same way. Rezzes as one piece but the sofa, ottoman, cushions table and accessories aren't linked, so you can use it as a whole installation or in pieces.

Another full set with some chuckles is #05. [Frop!]'s DayDreaming Trundle Bed. Two fun poses on the trundle (one sleeping, one chilling) and a spinning animaton on the stool.

From 41. [the Sea Hole] comes "Drinks Crazy crooked Steampunk-ish House". At 107 prims, it's big, but it's got some fine detail and its a seriously usable space if you have the land for it (needs slightly more than a 512 plot.) There's some incredible light and texture elements, and the whole look is something between the Adamm's Family, Strawberry Shortcake, and Psycho. An odd combination but one that works in all the best ways.

#38. [Reek] offers you a smaller domicile in the Lyric Skybox. Basic box but again, nice lighting and texture elements, not dark inside at all. The outside is logo stamped but inside it's light and amazingly usable and fun.

There are some clothes for guys; light weight colorful fun casual wear like this Retro Chic set of shorts and a lavendar button down from # 26. [Shiki Design]. The shirt is prim collared and cuffed, making it wearable with a lot of things, but by itself, it kind of makes me want to spend the day at the beach.

12. [NachtMusik] offers you this Indie Kid set with shorts and a shirt (there's an argyle sweater in there too). And a surprise modern plaid couch -- so when you set up in your new skybox or steampunk mansion, you'll have new furniture to go in it.

If you are in need of footwear, 14. [Duh!] offers up these Grey Leather Work Boots. I got a similar set to this in another hunt and I get a surprising amount of use out of them. Nice detail, resizable and fun.

#39. [Addict] had what may be my favorite outfit of the lot. It's a casual look, crop pants , tee and a vest, but it also comes with accessories: a nicely done razor blade necklace, the tiger eyed cross bracelet (above)that I am wearing a lot, and bandanas for your pocket and wrist. The set goes really nicely with the flip flops and prim feet that I picked up at [+grasp+] as a group gift (not part of the hunt.) It's just a nice easy look and all the pieces can be worn with other things.

And last but not least, #37. [Republica] offers up this striped beach umbrella set (there's a strawberry themed one too) to make your day at the beach comfortable and relaxing. Poses, component pieces and most importantly: they didn't forget the sun screen.

I have to thank Vina and some other very kind ladies who are sweet enough to do some of these hunts and provide me with notecards of stuff of interest to guys. I'm gonna have to throw a luau to thank them all properly.

Again, the hunt ends at the end of the month. You are looking for a glowing stone, but none of them were particularly difficult to find and in this batch, well worth the time it took some places to rezz fully.

Weekly Freebies: Little Britain

Weekly freebies are a joy and one of my favourite groups for such gifts is the slightly crazy Little Britain store group.

What can I say about Little Britain, one of the most generous, craziest, coolest and devious [have you done one of their hunts, wow they know how to hide things!] group of designers on the grid. The store has a MM board which is regularly updated, a couple of lucky chairs giving away skins; plus several camping chairs with selected items and finally their weekly free gift. As with the MM board they provide both female and male versions of their gifts. Quirky, irreverent some might say downright rude the rocker inspired designs are perfect for punks, metal heads or people who just like crazy. And you don't even have to be a group member to get any of these freebies or join in their devilish hunts, but its a fun group if you have a spare slot [oh woe is me when will Lindens awake to the fact we need more group slots arrrgh] and worthwhile joining for hints on what is going on.

This weeks gift is the skull jeans set, a low cut pair of pink faded jeans and a prim pink tie emblazoned with a skull motif. The tie slotted perfectly around my neck no and required no adjustments. The jeans are always boot cut [as Little Britain sell a vast range of cool boots] so to avoid that bit of flare poking out of your boots prim uppers.

Ive matched the Little Britain gift with the cool free hair from Sadistic Hacker, a free tank from Mr.Poet and Dragon boots [which leave a blood splattered print] from the freebie emporium Primville Plaza. Albion is also wearing a pair of free steampunk goggles given away at the cyber/steampunk fest by A&U Creations, this cool scripted item has plenty of features and compliments the dazed rocker look Albion has been saddled with today.

Nocturnal Flesh Grand Opening!

Peek-a-boo!

Hurry, hurry, hurry on to Nocturnal Flesh's grand opening! From now until midnight you'll find sexy people dancing to sexy music, lot's of gorgeous skin (for sale, duh! Get your mind out of the gutter!), and these amazing gifts! 3 for males and 3 for females, includes the clothing, hair, and these yummy messy vampire skins.

My newest gorgeous victim blogger, Albion, was kind enough to agree to model the male gifts with me. Welcome to Free Finds For Men Albion! Thanks for letting me grope you : ))

Here's some more info from Musette Demonia, the creator of these deliciously detailed skins:

"I have partnered with the well known DV8 clothing designers Vasha Martinek & Dysturbed Sin who have gladly agreed to provide clothing for the event as well as Traken Damone and Arielle Cerise from Flavor who will be providing hair for the models. Both DV8 and Flavor will have never before released items at the event."

The skins are only 500L each, and I don't know if that's a permanent price or not (I forgot to ask, bad blogger!), so you need to get your behinds over there now!

They'll be giving away a fantastic grand prize to a lucky guest today too! The notecard hinted that it might be the whole line of skins!!!!

Why are you still here? Get your dancin' duds on and go party!

Hunt Loot

Okay, so this is my first. Let's all hope I don't screw it up and not get invited back for a second post.

Right now, Heart & Soul is having a Daisy Hunt. Sounds girlie, right? Well, it is. Don't bother with it unless you want some sexy heels. However, the owner of the store has not forgotten us men. There is a box upstairs with camo boots inside of it. They have a resizing script in them, so sizing is a breeze. If the user clicks the toe of the boot, there are several options for toe color. Each boot acts independently, so be sure to change the options for both boots if they are to match. I'm not sure how long these are available, so better hurry if wanting them.

Another hunt that is in progress is at Catty Shack: Neko Village and Shops. The hunts consist of 43 keys (one in each store), and the hunter must click each key in order to open the treasure chest in the middle of the sim. Sounds like a pain, doesn't it? Well, I assure you it is simple. I did it in less than ten minutes. But, Charlie, I'm not a neko. Me either! But, you do get a pair of jeans, a shirt, and some boots. Who can pass that up! There are also some gifts for the ladies in the treasure chest. Once again, I'm not sure when this is over, so do not hesitate to complete it.

JFTG Hunt part two

Except for those shops that are still delayed in putting out their hunt gifts, I've pretty much finished the whole thing. I'll be checking back over the weekend to see if I can go back and pick up what I've missed, because really?

Good Stuff. I don't want to miss anything. I'll also do a separate post for non-clothing, but otherwise I'm kind of just going down the list in order -- not quite as organized as M4ri!yn, but ordered in my own mind.

Up first is a combination of gifts from various creators:
#5 [Primitive Designs] has this cool Lucky 13 Shirt that I combined with #8 [Juice] 's Steel Blue Jeans. Added #19 [Magically Alluring] 's Tribal skull armband, and topped it off with #36 [Audacity] - Rodan Midnight hair (which I really like) and #40 [StarPiercing]'s - Jucie facial piercing
set.

#20 [Starchild Designs] offers you a complete vintage 1920's outfit in brown, boots, hat, the accessories of a diamond tipped cane and cigar included along with the detailed pinstriped, wide-lapelled suit. Good for a Michael Jackson tribute or your next themed party or club date

#7 [Aria's Dream] - gives you another nearly complete outfit in the Elvish influence"Lorien". Doublet, shirt, cloak and leggings included. Boots are not included and the ones I have on are free "Basic Black Boots" right now at [Monsoon] (who has just added men's clothes to her line - so check it out.)

Also wearing:
Boon hair (not free)
Juush hair from Fiction (not free)

Sometimes things get messy

Every now and then you get in that mood; you might take it out on the dance floor or you might go looking for other kinds of energy release. SL has a little something for everyone, including those of us who like things to get a little messy from time to time. And if you are going to get messy, you might as well dress the part.

There's lots of places that let you push the edge, and no place does it better than [Little Britain Designs] where new sets are offered up every week, as freebies and in the Lucky Chairs, Midnight Mania boards and camping chairs. (All of which are back. LB has moved again, so make note of the slurl.)

This week's offering is Massacre (which may explain the mood, come to think of it.) If you are shy about showing your tush, you might want to wear a pair of boxers under this -- when LB rips something, it really gets ripped.

Not everything I have on is free, but the ticket price wasn't outrageous and it got pulled together from things I already had either from prior hunts or earlier purchases.

Top to Bottom though, the hair is Daniel - Mocha, a group dollarbie from [a.C Studios]. It comes in a fatpack of all colors and it's low prim, which if you inhabit any of the RP or Combat sims, can be a big plus. The rusty skulls necklace is a dollarbie from [KOSH], and the simple celtic belt is a lucky chair win from [Phoenix Design]

[RocX] has these leather kick boots for free to group members along with this Exo unisex hair (in three sizes). Join the group, get the gifts. No fighting at all.

Not Free: The glasses are [HOC]'s aviator glasses, $40-$50L, with changeable lenses and frames.

The wrist cuff is from [Dogma] and is not free but ran about $100L for a pair of them.

The bruises and blood are also from [RocX] -- around $180L, but a nice set if you want to look like you are ready to kick some ass. (Or get your ass kicked -- whichever works.)

Given that these clothes ended up a little worse for the wear, I hauled on something a little more durable -- and where better to find clothes that can stand up to what you throw at them, then hitting [KOSH] and see what presents Daizy Dumpling left out for us over the weekend.

What I got was this To-The-Bones purple tank and this very cool crossed plaid belt. The Manky jeans are also from Kosh and a nice looking buy for $77L.

Head scarf is from [Rockerwear] and their $25L sale. I picked up the [Solar Eyewear ~ Nash] shades from the freebie rack at [Fabulous Fashion TV], and I'm pretty sure they are still there.

Square cross is the previously blogged piece from Mamesando. The arm wrap is a Discovery hunt prize from [Neko Wonderland], and you're gonna recognize the denim leg wrap from [LikeA] - I find a lot of use for it.

Not free: Hair is from [booN], YKZ851 black and the leg belt is another purchase from [Dogma].

Now, I think I need a hot shower and some serious breakfast. Wouldn't want anyone to think I'd been in a fight or anything.

Catwalking - never send a Neko out for milk

Send the cat out for milk and he'll drag home all kinds of things, and forget the milk. But you can't really fault him, because obviously the milk was an elusive prey and Jenvi did bring home the bacon, so to speak.

He found these well detailed jeans at [AB Apparel] . They come with a vintage t-shirt as well (not shown).
Across the sim is [Diversity Hair], and the *DH* Josh-Mega Pack. Diversity does some nice hair and this short fringe is pretty versatile. You'll find it on the second floor on the inside wall.

If you hadn't caught it, [::Maschienenwerk::] has moved, but Armin is still dishing up some seriously nice freebies, including this pair of dark denims and this fun Tigerpaw t-shirt. Everything in the shop is free and there's three levels and two wings, most of the new stuff is up on the third floor, just like before. And if you have a few lindens, make sure to toss them at the proprietor.

If you haven't joined the group at [**LikeA**], you might want to rethink it. The leg banndanas I often wear are still there and still free, but you can also get the group gift offering, in this case the RED STILL CRAZY group gift jeans. There's a lucky board there too, offering more standard denims and the jeans come with and without the cuff skirts so you can adjust them to whatever else you are wearing, as Jenvi did to wear the [Bukka] Engineer boots he snagged from the lucky chair. These have been blogged before but they are still available and they are a nice pair of general purpose workboots.

Kick over to the the Sezuan series of sims, and wander the streets and alleys, and you never know what you might score. From [FA Creations Shopp] comes this riotous tank top and just down a couple of streets, [Kumaki Glasses Style] offers up these frame and lens changeable sunglasses (K_gs 231). The whole sim set is worth exploring; Moloko is taking over a another parcel there and they look to be in the middle of expanding, so if you are into Neko wear or grunge, this might be a place worth your time.

His last stop included two favorite places; [A:S:S] and the Kosh/[Concrete Flowers] pair of stores. A:S:S scored him this V-neck knit - grey sweater, part of the secret dollarbie hunt Photos has going on. No guarantee on how long it will last. Concrete Flowers has this Rainbow Crashing t-shirt up on their dollar wall, along with another t-shirt and you never know what will show up in their lucky chair. The jeans Jenvi has on are the [**LikeA**] group gift I told you about.

Not a bad haul for a kitty with ADD.

But I still have to go out and get the milk.

===
Jenvi is wearing a free skin (Male PA-My Blackbold) and shape (SeM Shape 211cm) from [.::Fashion Bar Peppermint Blue::.], you can pick them up in almost any of the men's packs Alice releases, in various body heights and skin tones.

These Boots Were Made....for line dancing

With all the hunts going on, not to mention spring releases, sim openings...fashion shows...you're gonna need some good footwear to get your through it all.

[Bobbysocks] to the rescue! One of the first pair of boots I bought in SL that I spent serious lindens on were made by Bad Bobbysocks and I still wear them -- and these boots show the same kind of detail and flair that Bobbysocks is known for. The down side is that Bobbysocks won't customize the fit of these, but the only adjustment I made was when I was taking the pictures to minimise the gap in the invisiprims when my ankles were crossed.

Shown here are the Fern, Black/Silver Scroll, and Dragon boots (click the pics for larger views), but there were six or seven styles (and women's boots too.) And whether you really do want to do some line dancing, or just have some fancy footgear, these are worth your grab. The TP point may haul you back to the directory, so you are looking for the Western and Native American wear under the floor of the main shops.
