FREEBIE MODS

I was wondering to myself the other day if a virtual mod could dress in a sharp mod way for FREE! As this time of year seems to herald a hunt bonanza I figured I might be able to dress out a freebie mod by grabbing the odd prize and a few regualar freebies. It was actually suprisingly easy.

First up was some shoes and I noticed the Jeepers Creepers had a cool pair of bowling shoes in the SAH treasure hunt. These shoes were a must; so I tp'd in there scurried around the very centre of the store found the big boot and made my escape with some ultra cool new mod shoes. Strike one!

Next I needed some trousers, freebie trousers and jeans are littered across the grid but I wanted a name brand, something uber stylish. Male fashion on the grid doesnt get any cooler than Redgrave so hopping on a notecard lm I quicjkly gathered the free black pants redgrave @ le look, an awesome freebie from a top virtual designer. Strike two!

Finally I had a choice to make I could get one of a myriad of freebie T-Sirts that plague the grid, or I could track down a cool sweater or jacket; maybe a nice cool shirt. Or I could go totally mod and get a Parka and after all what screams mod louder than a fishtail parka. So I scurried over to Popscene and clicked the box. Strike three!

Sure I still need some sizzling shades and a neat hair cut, but I was definitely mod and it had cost me zilch, a mod bargain.

Less Grunge, More Grace

Negotium Quan over at Geezer Garments has added a prizes for picks board at his store. It alternates daily between two prizes (for now) and currently what he's offering is this Dandy Brown suit and the matching shoes.

The shoes are a nice low-profile fit, meaning you can wear them not only with the suit but with jeans without having to do much tweaking to your pant hem. They are mod, no copy, though, so careful if you need to adjust.

The suit is a simple cut, no additional prims and Negotium did a really nice job matching up the checked pattern (which can sometimes be a problem on system jackets. There's a shirt, vest and jacket layer which means you can switch it up if you like.

The suit set also come with the sunglasses I'm wearing -- they have an adjustment script so use that to adjust size and position.

Keep in mind that prizes for picks can take up to 48 hours for the system to register it, but in the case of Geezer Garments, you aren't required to join a group in addition so, might be worth a slot in your profile after all. (He does have a group though, so take a look.)

#18. Trixxy's has been offering great guys casuals for awhile now,but I think she stepped her game this time. Skull appliqued brown jeans and an open checked shirt that steps away from the basic blue and black of most looks and she added a bullet chain necklace. Good cuff and collar work. Looks really good over a black tank too.

Lexi Vargas over at #118 Brocade Tiger is offering two gifts - first up is the new design for MHOH2 - with a southwestern flair and smooth look for the next time you go out two-stepping with your significant other. Vest and shirt in one, collar and cuff, nice flare to the jeans for your boots.

Also at Brocade Tiger is this bonus Skully shirt, Day of the Dead them (or Grateful Dead, your choice) , nice pattern and fit. Matched up here with the ripped jeans from #130. Alexohol. I like the weave and detail on these jeans a lot.

And yes, Bryce hair and Vassnia shoes again, natch.

Arrh...me heartys!

Shiver me timbers and Color me chaos... Arrh! ya dirty scoundrels! Remember long ago when you were a pesky lil kid, did you use to love making things out of cardboard boxes? like cars, cubby houses..pirate ships! Then you'll love this crayon coloured, cardboard pirate ship that's held together with sticky tape. It is a fun costume that made me smile and rem minis about cardboard tube sword fights with my brother.

Hunting for the Casual

Most of the hunts in September (and there were a lot of them) are ending on the 30th if they haven't already, so time to make those crucial decisions about which to hit for last minute finds.

The Pretzel Hunt was officially over on Saturday, but as of this morning, Indi Designs still had their offering up: Harper, a sleek casual look (men and women) with a turtleneck, and two sets of subtle plaid pants in black and grey.

The choker I have on is the offering from Sable Rose: The Poisoner's Men's Choker (also a different gift, the Poisoner's Wife, in the same box for the ladies). Easy silver accents, resizable and very cool.

And while not a hunt item, but limited and there is a lucky chair in McChucks store at Clay. These are one pair of the two "Shoe of the Month" offerings for only $20L. The detail on these are amazing and really, if you need a pair of special chucks, you can probably find them here.

The Lucky Chair offerings change with each letter, so it's well worth waiting for. I think there are three or four different pairs of specialty chucks in the chair.

SummerChoice!2009

SummerChoice!2009 is still up (will end on 31 August) with several unisex prizes.
All you have to do is buy a product containing the stamp card from the list of stores involved (some of them offer only limited products marked with the card logo, some others offer them in every product they sell) and mark them at the printing device located in all the 20 shops.

If you are managing to do the print rally all at once, probably you need many free slots where attach the cards in order to print them. I personally use the HUD slots, saving one for the AO but you can also wear them in every free slot of the avatar like many actually do.

Summer boy

I must confess, I am not really thrilled about the kids fashion and I am completely ignorant to anything kids-like.
So, when I visited a kids store (by chance) today, I was surprised to find a large variety of clothes and accessories that I usually don't picture for kids.
Anyway, I found something interesting for adults as well. This flip-flops for istance.
I haven't seen them blogged around but I think that they're really handy.
One pair of flip-flops and dozen of options.
Thanks to the color changing menu you can recolor sole and rubber as you prefer.

There are also a couple of boxes with some free t-shirts, underwear and pants.


The quality is not the best but some items are not too bad.
The pants are all low-rise and you can't wear the swimtrunk without showing the *very bottom* of the back (you know what). I am wearing them with one of the free underwear found in one of the boxes.

The shirts come without underpants layer so you have to wear an high-rise pant to avoid to show the belly.
Meh, modern kids fashion trend.

JFTG Part Five

This is the last of the posting. Not every single thing is here. Vmotional offered up some great sitting animations (and I mean that - Vmotional (formerly Sinamatic) is among my favorite animation creators), BF Poseworx put out a Beach pose/photo set, just in time for summer & MADesigns had eyes in the pack with the hair they offered, and there are some other shirts or additions that came in packs that I didn't grab pictures of...but it's a pretty good view of what's on offer - high quality, varied style, interesting choices.
