Hunting for the Casual

Most of the hunts in September (and there were a lot of them) are ending on the 30th if they haven't already, so time to make those crucial decisions about which to hit for last minute finds.

The Pretzel Hunt was officially over on Saturday, but as of this morning, Indi Designs still had their offering up: Harper, a sleek casual look (men and women) with a turtleneck, and two sets of subtle plaid pants in black and grey.

The choker I have on is the offering from Sable Rose: The Poisoner's Men's Choker (also a different gift, the Poisoner's Wife, in the same box for the ladies). Easy silver accents, resizable and very cool.

And while not a hunt item, but limited and there is a lucky chair in McChucks store at Clay. These are one pair of the two "Shoe of the Month" offerings for only $20L. The detail on these are amazing and really, if you need a pair of special chucks, you can probably find them here.

The Lucky Chair offerings change with each letter, so it's well worth waiting for. I think there are three or four different pairs of specialty chucks in the chair.

Sable Rose on the Twisted Hunt

Yay my first post, and one of the first chances for folks to see 'Boy Guen'. LOL

There's hunts abound right now on Second Life and I thought I'd focus on one item to start with along the Twisted hunt trail.

The Poisoner 2

This is 'The Poisoner' Choker which is one of two items available in the Twisted Hunt from Sable Rose. Yes there's a female charm necklace to match, ladies, called 'The Poisoner's Wife' which is also available in the pack. :-)

The Poisoner

This leather choker comes complete with spikes, a twisted chain that curls along one side, and a gloomy skull that dangles effortlessly from the front. The detail on this design is absolutely incredible and I love that it's just as good to go with just about any type of 'alternative' outfit whether you prefer to dress like a Rock Star, Punk, Grunge, Emo (yeah can't forget those emos), or Goth.

Do check out Sable Rose where there's jewelry for both men and women available.

Twisted! - Quick Notes

It's back. It's big (156 participating vendors). And it is more Twisted than before. In a word, it's AWESOME!

But it's also popular and not necessarily easy which means there will be lag. And more lag, and not a little frustration all of which means you need to remember some basic hunting skills and etiquette.

Clean your Inventory before you start and Open and discard often. I promise this makes the whole thing less of a hassle.

Let things rez. The Twisted Hunt boxes are small and they rotate -- they are often among the last things to rez in any given location.

Check the hunt signs. Content creators may give you hints about where to look.

Start in the middle. If you find a box further along the hunt line, go from there. It's a circular hunt; you can come back to earlier stuff later.

Don't shout out locations in open chat. Seriously. Some people enjoy the hunt and even those that just want to find everything, can put forth a little effort. The content creators did.

They'll be there. The Twisted Hunt lasts all month. Even if you have limited time in world, you don't need to find all 156 items in a single shot.

Don't be a jerk. Which I feel stupid saying but the last couple of hunts have been eye opening. If you don't have the patience for this kind of hunt, where a good portion of what's offered is going to be for women rather than men, then let me suggest you give it a few days and check the blogs. There will be a half dozen bloggers covering this thing and they can point out the stuff you might actually want, if you can have a little patience. But still Don't Be A Jerk.

Yeah, yeah, mostly preaching to the choir but I want the designers to have as much fun with this as the hunters do, so keep it cool.

And just to get you started with something cool and fun and get you ready to seek out more let me suggest you start at [Sangre Noir] or [CoLLisions].

Noirran Marx at [Sangre Noir] offers up this men's goth hat and a heart on your chest boutonnière. Noirran is also the brains and heart behind [Subtle Submission] which I've blogged about before. Sangre Noir is her new line of women's gothic clothing but she made time to create these items for the men in the hunt and I for one, am very grateful. She sent me these in pre-release so I got a chance to flaunt my fancy chapeau at a gallery opening where it (and I) got some nice compliments.

Guenivere DeCuir is the designer for [CoLLisions], so in addition to the "Legion" necklace you should have gotten from the Back-To-School Hunt, you now have this really detailed nose and ear chain. Both are modifiable to fit you avatar and no self-respecting goth dude would be without one. Guen does some really nice work and has recently expanded her shop, so be sure to look around. (Hint on the ear piece: set the double hoops in the lobe first, then adjust the 2 pieces of the safety pin to your upper ear. It takes less then a minute unless your head is really small.)

There, go forth and find.
