Silent Sparrow @ The Gnubie Store

Testing out this blog malarky, I thought I would start off safe with a simple piece illustrating an item I grabbed at The Gnubie Store. One of the freebie gems on the grid The Gnubie Store is a treasure trove of designer give-aways.

Albion snapped up this gothic item from one of SL's best gothic stores Silent Sparrow, who donate several cool items to the store. Grab as many as you can, join the group and head to the Silent Sparrow store to buy some reallty cool, really original styles and designs.

What impresses me with the Silent Sparrow range of free items is the high quality of the designs, the freebies are often sale item just dropped into the freebie store. They are not cheaper version thrown in to publicize the main designs or logo T-Shirts to advertise the store. Both generous and stylish, these gothic Victorian inspired designs stand up against anything you'll have in your inventory. I like them a lot, so should you; be adventurous take off the ripped jeans you bought for 5L; discard the T-Shirt declaring your loyalty for the Bare Boobies Bar; be daring, be gothic, be cool be free. Yes, I'm a woman. But even if I were a man, I don't know how much of a gentleman I'd be. I'd probably be a dirty biker dude or something LOL.

Anyhoo, on to the freebies...

Dany French Touch sent out a group gift last night for both men and women, both of which are delicious of course, but this is just the men's and it's called Excalibur.

The walking stick is from Dark Eternity and I'm not sure if it's still free or not, but it's a nice one. I cut off the silver tip at the bottom, because I'm a lousy photographer, but trust me, it's nice.

You guys have to go to XCENTRICITY Station now and join this group! You'll find the group joiner on a pillar between two of the men's wear sections, and the group gift button is underneath it.

The Crisp White Victorian shirt comes with shirt and undershirt with tuck-in option layers and the Impressionists Waistcoat comes in shirt and jacket layers for you to wear with different things. Both of these pieces are luxuriously textured and so versatile that you NEED this in your wardrobe even if you're a tee shirt kinda guy.

Lucky Bird

You may have seen all of this on other blogs being modeled by women, but I wanted to make sure that you were aware that this stuff can be worn by the men too.

Morrigan Denimore, the owner and designer at The Black Canary has a real talent for creating a victorian goth atmosphere. I'd heard he was a vampire, so that might explain it. His clothing is dark and sexy, and really makes you feel like it's appropriate to say things like "I never drink...wine".

I needed a top hat, cane, and a pair of those little round sunglasses, and I would have felt like I was channeling Lestat or even Count Dracula himself.

I forgot to put a shirt on underneath this gorgeous coat, so it kinda looks girlie, but you guys can accessorise this any way you want to and completely change it from dark victorian to modern goth, or anything else your imagination can come up with.

Introducing Reid...And Blogger's a Bitch

Hi everyone! I'm Reid Lorefield and I will be joining Free Finds for Men. I'm also a noob so many of my posts will be dedicated at first to finding the best or must have items so you won't be picked on mercilessly... unless that is what you want.

But first, Silent Sparrow has a new lucky chair and men were included. Hyacynth Tiramisu is one of the best clothing creators in SL and this outfit does not fail to pass the test. The Swamplight Suit is a derivation of her Koumoir set and has 2 versions of collar and tails. Once you land, pivot clockwise, go into the next room and pass the pool. The lucky chair is in the room to the right of the pool. You can't miss the mob. The chair has both a male and female version.


Most of the items I am wearing in the picture are free. My hair is a new group gift from Discord. The skin is called Photorealistic Steve Skin. I think i picked it up on Noob Island but will do a post on skin soon so will try to cover it. Thus far it has the best facial detailing of skin that I have found from free male skins. If you know of better skins let us know and we will post them for here. The glasses are from Mascienwerk.

New Gifts (YAY!)

I logged in this evening and saw that two of my favorite designers had new gifts. What a great little surprise! I always get a warm fuzzy when that happens, but this time I saw that it was stuff I could actually post here!

Silent Sparrow has a new group gift out from September the 8th through the 15th. If you're not a member, WHY? The group will be closed until after the 15th, but you can go ahead and request admission now while you're drooling over this gorgeous suit. Next time she's giving something out, you'll be ready : ) Almost all of her gifts are either unisex or come with male and female parts, and they're all fantabulous! The join group poster is behind the counter in the same room as your TP point. Just touch it once, and wait for the invitation. It WILL NOT come until after the 15th and that's NOT negotiable. Once you're in though, I can guarantee it's worth the wait because Hyacynth loves to have parties, and she has special sales and hunts too.

I had to rush right over to Beauty Avatar when I got the notice that there was a new gift out on the counter in her skin store. Yes it's a woman's skin, but the note also said that there were 6 tattoos too! I tried them on and decided that they were very gothy and certainly unisex.


This is the girls skin. It's called Selkis in Black. Isn't it beeeautifulishious? Ok, so my picture taking skills aren't really up to showing off skins, but trust me, I know quality when I'm lushiously all wrapped up in it. Tell your lady friends about it, I don't know if this is a limited time offer or not.

No, not me. Hyacinth Tiramisu of ~silentsparrow~ has decided not to make her group gifts freely available because of the harassment she has received from greedy bastards. Honestly, if your mother had knitted you a sweater and given it to you as a gift, would you bitch at her about the seams? Tell her you didn't like that color, she needs to make you one in lime green? If you would, then stop reading this now because you're one f*cked-up tw*t. My gradmother (rest her soul) used to knit everyone the most horrendous sweaters and scarves for christmas every year. We all kissed her and thanked her and promply put them on for the first and last time. I still have every single thing she ever made me and I'm damn happy for it.

How can I compare my grandmother's gifts to those of SL designers? It's just common courtesy to thank someone for a gift freely given. Hyacinth's group is comprised of people who all love her and she spoils them like they were really her own. When greedy tw*ts hear she's put out another group gift they all scramble to request entry to the group and harass her to death about how long it takes. Then they take what she's given and leave the group. Some of them even contact her to complain about the gift afterwards. WTF?

Well, she's trying to find a solution to the stupidity and has decided that all former group gifts will only be availlable to newbies under 30 days old. Good for newbies! When she decides to give out something new to her "twittery birds" her group will be closed to new members for (I think) 2 weeks. I hope for her sake that it works. She's a nice lady, just like my grandmother. My grandmother never called everybody to come and dance with her at 3 o'clock in the morning though : )

If you're under 30 days old take the TP to the store and proceed to the small pool in the second room. Touch the box you'll find there and click "keep" when the blue messages pop up. There's a lot more than what I've pictured here and you'll find your gifts in your objects folder. If Hya's there, say thank you! She doesn't bite. (much)

To the left of the pool by the stairway is the very excellent Lucky Chair. If your letter comes up, congratulations! Now go back to the first room and behind the desk in the front of the store is the group inviter on a blue poster. Touch it and wait. It may take a few days, but so what? It's more than worth it to wait a few days to join one of the most fun groups in SL.
