Macabre Hunt (Part 3)

And as promised... here's some stuff from the last 3rd of the Macabre Hunt :-)



One of the two skins available from Ali Couture (#61) has an interesting blue tint and tattoos already in place. The shading is lovely and I like the shading over each part.



Pie Hole (#64) went with the darker side of the Snow White tale with the Queen as the Witch for the gals, and a Coal Miner avatar for the dudes. I dunno but when I see this avie, I keep thinking about a certain Rammstein music video. Hmmm. ;-)



I don't typically wear neko gear, but the two sets from Neako (#65) were cute without being 'overdone'. The men's set comes from the 3rd & 4th apples with the ears & tails (2 versions) in one and the kitty feet in the other (also 2 versions). The ears and the tail have bones to go along with the Corpse Bride & Groom theme but doesn't distract from the cuteness of both sets.



I've always been a fan of The Stringer Mausoleum (#69) since Helena makes such unique hairstyles. Wandering around I was delighted to see she also does skins and some clothing including this men's Fox Stole. Normally you'd think of a stole being for the ladies, but this one actually works with your fav Steampunk outfit. :-)

And finally...

The very last stop on the Hunt is the mall placed above the Alice in Wonderland RP sim, Nevaria (#73).



One of the two gifts from Rasetsukoku at the end of this Hunt is the Sword of Litha which includes a script to draw and sheath the sword and a belt that's made in both men's and women's sizes. A great addition for any period piece outfit you may decide to throw on.

And that's the Hunt! Got one more day to run through before all these goodies are gone. Don't fret, though. There will be another Hunt in the Spring with new gifts and new challenges for each designer. :-)

Macabre Hunt (Part 2)

Yeah I know I'm a little late with the second installment, but part of it was due to having a hard time picking just a few things to photograph. Digging through more and more items found in this hunt is like a Goth Christmas. However I did have to narrow the items down...

So here is a sampling of items you'll get in stores #25-#50:



You actually get 3 furniture items from SMOTD (#29) including this Rusty Musty Reading Couch with 2 sitting poses and dusty books to place wherever you wish. It's even purposely leaned back so you can set it up against your favorite wall.



Sal-eela (#32) and Tacky Star (#34) had items that actually look good together so I went with it. The kilt from Sal-eela has great texturing and a resize script so you can adjust on a whim. I even managed to get it small enough for my female av which made it even more cool. Tacky Star's Prince Charming tattoo comes in 3 layers with a realistic scar across the front and "Prince Charming" curved across the back. The black choker comes with it as well for a more Gorean look.



Just going to the Violent Seduction (#35) store was a blast. The setting for the store is incredible and Ikaru decided to tease folks by placing out a cauldron if apples at the entrance (which we all were clicking on incessantly despite the fact none of them were the real hunt item). ;-) In the end, though she did do a great job with these troll ears and tail for the dudes. I may just wear the ears, themselves, when I'm feeling a bit more ghoulish.



Virtual Props & Poses (#41) is an interesting store since they don't do Photo areas or pose balls like some other stores do but instead they offer actual props to sit on and pose for even more dramatic photographs. Their contribution Hunt is this Mousetrap Prop with 6 different menu driven poses. Street Dermatology (#40) offered both a skin and this Briar Rose's Cursed Needle necklace as gifts. The necklace is actually big enough for guys to wear and the detail on the pendant is quite interesting with tiny red droplets and suspended needle inside.



I've seen folks wear gauges in SL before and they never seemed to impress me, until I saw these from Gauged (#44). These aren't just the gauges but prim ears as well. These have not only a resize script to fit each one to your head, but also a plethora of different skin tones and 6 different gauge designs (I'm wearing one of the 2 Jack Skellington designs included). You may need to adjust your shape and shrink down your normal ears to fit these but it's worth it.



Probably one of the longest names for an item I've ever heard, the Mad Hatter's Nightmare Decked to the 9's top hat from Forsaken (#50) has soooo much incredible detail and I just fell in love with it. I'm a hat fanatic to begin with, but this giftie topped the charts. Everything from playing cards to dead bird heads are on this thing which makes it a great item to wear not only for Halloween but any other time you need an extra touch of freaky for your outfit.

The Macabre Hunt (Part 1)

Among the many other hunts that have saturated our Second Life experiences within the last few weeks, I've found the Macabre Hunt to be one of the most intriguing. Not because my own store is participating in it, but more due to the theme of the items you can receive while wandering from sim to sim looking for a tiny apple hidden within.

The theme is 'Twisted Fairy Tales' and wow some of the items I've already looked through teeter between gothic, fantastic, and grotesque. Not all of the gifties have items for men, though some are unisex and/or could be resized for dudes to wear so there's still hope.

Here's some picks from the first 25 stops in the Hunt:



Stop #1 and already we have a great gothic outfit from Rasetsukoku. The back of the coat has a drawing of Jack Skellington and the sleeve cuffs have little pumpkins on them for flair. The coolest part of these duds is the spinal bone cane with alternating animations so you too can look like a cool pimp daddy. ;-)



At #4 on the trail, Gehenna (right next door to Rasetsukoku, actually) ended up making both these little guys and an item similar to Roawenwood (which is further down in this post) based on Hansel & Gretel. Ryoko decided to add these Domo-Kun plushies to the mix as well. I had hoped that the one on my head could hold his bodily functions until I took the pic, but to no avail.



Here's a full Avie in a box for your next Halloween party! This giftie from VampArt (#7) shows off what can happen if Jack had accidentally slipped and fell while climbing up that infamous giant beanstalk. OW that -had- to hurt!



At Color Me Chaos (#9) the theme was 'The Little Mermaid' and so of course for the men's design you gotta have the outfit for the sailor she rescues and sets the entire story in motion.



Along with 2 female Mary skins, Absentia at #14 in the Hunt also included these incredibly detailed pieces from a rather demented version of Pinocchio. The brain and the heart both do pulsate and the heart comes with a silent version and one with a 'beating' sound.



No the fangs aren't included. They are simply for Boy Guen's dignity. ;-) PeeBox (#17), aside from being a really unique store of gadgets, also has a great selection of full body tattoos with texts and scripts. For the hunt, there's a full body tat in multiple layers with bloody text all along the back, various bits of other gore and inked Jack Skellingtons in other various spots. This one is good for the girls, too!



Hansel and Gretel's Torment from Roawenwood (#20) is an interesting piece. You can either sit in the cage (with two different sits) or you can stand behind it. As I said, Gehenna made a similar one (unintentionally) and both are cool in their own way. Either one is definitely a conversation piece to add to your home or store decor. :-)



Rara Avis at #21 decided to step away from gothic for just a moment and do some elegant outfits based off 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'. The boy giftie is called the 'Oberon' and has an incredible amount of detail in each piece that this picture can't do justice to portray. All I needed was my elf ears from my normal look. ;-)



How the prince looked after going through all the perils to get to Sleeping Beauty's chamber, that's what you get in the male gift from HopScotch (#22). I love the shading and rich golds that contrast against the red of every strand of blood. The coat and the cape also has a subtle cream pattern to compliment the white.



Ah not just any Mad Hatter avatar, but one inspired by American McGee's twisted mind. This men's gift from Sweeter Than Candy even includes a crooked nose and gear in the back for your demented enjoyment. Don't fret, girls, you get Alice in your box which is equally as enjoyable to wear.

The second post will have items from stores #26-50 which I should be able to sort through in a couple days. The Hunt runs through October 6th so you all still have some time to see each amazing shop along the path. :-)
